Selonding is an archaic iron gamelan, found only in Tenganan and a few other villages of East Bali. It has a mellow, laidback sound very unlike the better-known Balinese gamelans. Because the gamelan is too sacred to be played except on religious occasions, Tenganan has allowed replicas to be made for study and practice. One of those replicas is heard here.
