Reviews:
1. AllMusic - Richie Unterberger
All 17 of the tracks on this collection were originally released on the Prestige International releases Philadelphia Folk Festival, 1962, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. It's a respectable sampling of what you might have heard in concert as the early-'60s folk revival reached its peak, including performances by Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Mike Seeger, Reverend Gary Davis, and Pete Seeger. That means you get straight folk, country-blues, bluegrass, and some old-timey music. Elliott comes off better than most of them in the live context, his yodeling on "Muleskinner Blues" going over with the audience in a big way. Among the lesser-known lights, the most interesting is Canadian singer Bonnie Dobson, who offers a couple of ballads in her high, clear voice, including a good version of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face."
