Roshell Anderson's albums continue to be erratic, yet intriguing propositions. He combines a down-home, humorous approach with a production style that mixes urban instrumentation and vintage harmonies and arrangements. He may follow an earthy, countrified number with a contemporary, hip city tune. It doesn't always, or even often, work, but it's at least an interesting approach.
