This nine-woman lineup is the foremost practitioner of qasidah modern, a pop interpretation of the Islamic oral epic tradition. Qasidah modern reworks these epics to bring old-time values to latter day situations, attacking sexual promiscuity, drinking, and smoking. The didactic lyrics are sung to the sounds of electric guitars, synthesizers, violins and flutes.
