Reviews:
1. AllMusic - Richie Unterberger
Male-female duets were a frequent and fine feature of soul's golden era, and this compilation gathers a dozen good examples, all from the '60s. Aside from the fact that this is a good concept with good tunes, it also contains a few neat items that aren't anthologized often, like Don Gardner & Dee Dee Ford's "I Need Your Lovin'" (early soul at its rawest and most gospel-flavored), Fontella Bass & Bobby McClure's "Don't Mess up a Good Thing," and Ben E. King & Dee Dee Sharp's "What'cha Gonna Do 'Bout It." If you want some big names too, you'll find them here as well, on hits by Dinah Washington & Brook Benton, Ike & Tina Turner, Betty Everett & Jerry Butler, Peaches & Herb, and Chuck Jackson & Maxine Brown.
