This collector's LP from the Austrian label Wolf fills in some gaps for trad jazz fanatics. After Bunk Johnson (in 1942) is heard playing a brief fragment of "Maple Leaf Rag" on piano, the trumpeter leads his band (with clarinetist George Lewis, trombonist Jim Robinson and drummer Baby Dodds) during 1944-45 on some standards and classic jazz obscurities. Pianist Dink Johnson plays a solo version of "Indian Rag," and the album concludes with two songs apiece from three versions of George Lewis's groups, from 1943, 1951 and 1955...
