1. AllMusic - arwulf arwulf
JSP records presents a double-disc, 29-track anthology of recordings made by expatriate U.S. jazz and blues musicians active in London during the years 1980-1985. The original albums mined for this collection were tenor saxophonist Bud Freeman's excellent The Dolphin Has a Message (1980); Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson's Fun in London (1980); trombonist/guitarist Eddie Durham's Blue Bone (1981); blues trombonist Gene "Mighty Flea" Conners' Sanctified (1981); Hal Singer's Big Blues (a double album shared with vocalist Jimmy Witherspoon, 1981); and two different albums released under the name of guitarist Al Casey: Six Swinging Strings (1981) and Al Casey Remembers King Curtis (1985). There's enough variety here to provide maybe even more enjoyment than some of the original albums did individually.
