Description

The friendship and collaboration between saxophonist Dick Oatts and pianist Harold Danko goes way back to the late 1970s, when the two young musicians cut their teeth in the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra. Although they have performed together in all types of groups and bands over the years, this is the first time they have recorded in a duo setting.
On 'Sweet Nowhere' "there is never a dull or wasted moment as two minds connect in perfect harmony." (Mark Gardner from the linernotes). The two musicians perform a mixture of popular and jazz standards and one original composition, the title track.
Dick Oatts he has recorded and performed with Lalo Schiffrin, Lester Bowie, Joe Lovano, Tito Puente, Kenny Wheeler, Gunther Schuller and many others. He has accompanied such vocalists as Joe Williams, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, and Mel Torme. He has recorded solos for pop artists such as Luther Vandross, James Taylor
