Description

Formed in 1972 in the very city in which this show was recorded, five years later, Van Halen were credited with "restoring hard rock to the forefront of the music scene". From 1974 until 1985, Van Halen consisted of Eddie Van Halen; Eddie's brother, drummer Alex Van Halen; vocalist David Lee Roth; and bassist Michael Anthony, and it was this prestigious line up that performed in the group's home city in 1977, when they gave their all at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, on December 20th 1977. Playing a stunning set just a couple of months before the band's superb debut album was released (in February 1978), the entire affair was recorded for live FM radio broadcast. Now featured in its entirety on this CD for the first time, this pivotal early gig remains quite probably the best concert the group put on during this time in their career.
