The Main Ingredient were one of the few vocal groups able to be both classy and soulful. Cuba Gooding (father of talented film actor Cuba Gooding, Jr.) had the ability to sound earnest and anguished while singing sentimental, even sappy lyrics. Their polished harmonies made them mid-'70s romantic idols, and while they weren't as emphatic as trios like The Delfonics or Moments, they still cranked out many hit albums for RCA. This anthology collects their biggest chart hits and is a soul ballad bonanza.
