Description

The series concept is to research an artist's birth state and compile albums around their Southern Bred heritage. By doing so the musical concept radically differs from that of a reginal or label-based compilation and therefore opens the variety of sound within the album and series. The aim is to entertain and introduce different sounds into your music collection, and for Dee Jays the albums contain numerous dance-floor winners. The longevity of the series highlights the public's confidence in the product and the Koko Mojo label continues to source long-forgotten musical gems. By maintaining our integrity, and principles we are confident our competitively priced albums are perfect from beginning to end. The fourth by-birth state exploration goes into the musically rich southern states of Tennessee and Arkansas, and the seven compilations continue the winning formula of the previous three anthologies. The twenty-eight recordings on every album are sourced from the Rhythm & Blues, and Rock 'n' Roll genres, with a selection of, Jump Blues rockers, and a smattering of full of fervor up-tempo Gospel titles mixed in to intensify the musical feeling. Along the journey you will be introduced to the following artists: Dee Clark, Larry Birdsong, Little George Smith, Big John Greer, Erline Harris, Johnny Bragg and The Marigolds, Little Willie John, Charlie and Rosie, Stick McGhee and His Buddies, Jimmy McCracklin, Rosetta Tharpe, Lillian Offitt, Rosco Gordon, Bobby Blue Bland, Sam The Man Taylor, Louis Brooks and His Hi-Toppers, Crown Prince Waterford, Willie Cobbs, Chicago Sunny Boy, Memphis Slim, Washboard Sam and His Washboard Band, Jimmy Hurt and The Del-Rios, The Prisonaires, and many more!
