Jive-A-Rama Volume Five opens up with a great unknown Mark Cleary who sings up a storm during Bop-Cat Rock and this song alone should provide enough reason to purchase the album. The sound switches and changes and perfect examples of the vast source of jiving music can be ascertained from listening to; Jack Moore's melodic Baby Don't Cry which is a teen rocker with flair, The Eboniers, Shut Your Mouth is a 100 per cent dance-floor winner, and a possible surprise will be Cab Calloway's reworking of country cat Billy Brown's song Lost Weekend.
The album contains many great unknowns including; Jerry Adams who gives his slant on the rocker classic Old Black Joe, the killer is a difficult performer to follow and Georgia Gibbs lungs are ready to explode as she tears into Great Balls Of Fire, the King of the Twist, Chubby Checker slips into the jive tempo as he invites you to Dance-A-Long, and (then) teen Little Ronnie Sessions is full of youthful enthusiasm as he spits out the lyric of Keep A Knockin'.
The album features Emmy Oro and Her Rhythm Escorts singing A Fish House Function (For A Cross Eyed Cat Named Sam) which is a special request from a fan of the series. Jack Toombs provides the country boogie with Pin Ball Fever, and country cat Jimmy Lloyd pushes the pedal to the metal and Rocks and Rolls during You're Gone Baby.
