Description

Landslide Records is proud and excited to announce its next release: TOUGH LOVE, an all-new set of soulful originals from veteran Georgia blues rocker Tinsley Ellis. Produced by Ellis, the album marks the third release from the label, Heartfixer Music, and features a compelling variety of tunes that will add to his reputation as one of the genre's most engaging and creative artists. In TOUGH LOVE, the versatile and critically acclaimed Ellis has crafted perhaps his most complete record, combining masterful guitar work and vocals with songs that both rock and soothe. Given some of Ellis' finest material to date, TOUGH LOVE presents a wide ranging set that moves effortlessly from the catchy opening track, "Seven Years," through the rollicking shuffle groove of "Midnight Ride," the Dylanesque "Hard Work," and a plaintive soul drenched ballad, "Should I Have Lied." Additional musicians, all of whom are longtime veterans of Delbert McClinton's band, include Nashville keyboard whiz Kevin McKendree (Brian Setzer), bassist Steve Mackey, and drummer Lynn Williams (John Hiatt).

BUENISIMO.

James Brown once described the spirit of soul music as 'something that makes you feel proud of your origins'. Undoubtedly Tinsley Ellis is proud to come from Georgia, a state with a long and rich rhythm and blues tradition, that has given such great artists like James Brown, Otis Redding, Little Richard or The Allman Brothers Band among others. In this new album Tinsley proudly shows his southern roots he pays tribute with passion and reverence, on a mixture of that soul which made popular other artists before him, together with the most electrifying raw blues, leaving free rein to his good vocal abilities that, in this album are better tan ever, while his music drive us from Georgia roadhouses to the most genuine juke joint that still remain open where you can hear the traditional true old southern blues you can imagine. A tireless musician with hundreds of shows on his back, Ellis gives in this new work his monumental reliability as guitar player, singer and composer. This is a more than recommendable album quite different to what we usually expect from him. GREAT.
