Jad Tariq, a Memphis-based Rhythm & Blues guitarist/vocalist, is making waves in the national music scene.
Primarily performing in the jump blues idiom, Tariq's guitar style is characterized by a swinging jazz rhythm that merges seamlessly with the raw emotional intensity of the blues. His vocal style is in the tradition of the blues shouters of the '40s and '50s, while also boasting the ability to croon heartfelt jazz ballads.
Originally hailing from Trumbull, Connecticut, Tariq began his music career at just 12 years old, cutting his teeth in local bars across the tri-state area. At age 18, he moved to Memphis to immerse himself in the rich musical heritage of the blues, and has since become a mainstay on the scene.
Tariq has garnered national attention through collaborations with multiple blues music award-winner John Németh and renowned musician Tony Holiday. In Memphis he performs frequently leading his own band, and also as sideman to artists including John Paul Keith, Wyly Bigger, Benton Parker, Earl "The Pearl" Banks, Jon Hay, and many others.
An accomplished songwriter, Tariq's creativity shines on his upcoming album, 'Jad Tariq Sings'. The album features a blend of 1950s style rhythm & blues influences while also incorporating modern pop sensibilities, highlighting his versatility and unique artistic voice.
