Clifton Chenier with Clarence Garlow – Zydeco – Louisiana Stomp – 2CD

Description

Prior to Clifton Chenier's arrival, zydec was confined to Louisiana and South-East Texas, taken seriously by its practitioners and their audiences but passed over in the larger picture. Clifton was one of the first to move from diatonic button accordion to the piano accordion, a Cadillac of an instrument that gave him a wider selection of keys and the possibility of integrating other music forms like the blues into his repertoire. Zydeco's wide popularity can be laid mainly at the feet of Chenier and his 1954 recording of 'Clifton's Blues' and 'Louisiana Stomp'.

The first complete collection of the first sides by the two men who created Zydeco-Clifton Chenier and Clarence Garlow.
Superbly re-mastered and presented set that brings the highest re-issue standards to this key set of recordings which would influence zydeco for the following 60 years.
