Reviews:

1. AllMusic by Jim Smith
It's not hard to hear why the Hollisters are considered one of the finest bands in Houston. Energy, energy, and more energy are what these guys thrive on, and one can imagine that seeing them live must be a heck of a good time. That is, if you appreciate country music stripped of most of its emotional power, imbued with novelty, and cranked up loud. That's the nutshell review of Sweet Inspiration, but there are a few additional things worth mentioning. First of all, these guys can really play. Led by guitarist Eric Danheim, the band has developed a tight, punchy sound which is firmly in its element on rowdy rockers like "Fishin' Man" and "Love Rustler." Mike Barfield's Johnny Cash-like lead vocals are well known, and they are all over this album, especially on "Thrill of the Ride" and "Holes in the Road (Dumptruck)." In the end, though, while the record is fun, it can't cover up the fact that the Hollisters are a party band, no matter how polished their attack.
