Description

Mitch Miller was more than the host of popular 50's/60's television series "Sing a Long With Mitch"; he was also an orchestra leader, choirmaster, oboe and English horn soloist, talent spotter, star maker, successful record producer, and the top A&R man at Columbia Records for more than a decade. This 4CD box set covers recordings made between June 1950 and Sept. 1956 that illustrate all aspects his remarkable career. As well as recordings of Miller and his orchestra backing some of the biggest performers of the day, including Frank Sinatra, Frankie Laine, Judy Garland, Jo Stafford, Louis Armstrong, and Guy Mitchell, the set also features Miller fronting his orchestra and demonstrating his soloist skills, and the complete "Columbia House Party" promo album (a fake "live" album allegedly put together from parties at Miller's home).
