IMPRESCINDIBLE.

Today that music is available from any digital platform and interested people can download and build up their own song lists, it becomes more necessary than ever that record labels publish albums that let people know the blues history and their most relevant names. This is the case of Austrian label Wolf Records which, for several decades, devotes their efforts to the incredible task of giving excellent historical recordings by the great bluesmen who forged this style to blues followers, as is the case of the album they present now by great bluesman Homesick James, one of the greatest representatives of the most genuine Chicago South Side blues. The album gathers twelve songs recorded in 1979 and 1980 in Austria and five other recorded in Chicago by Christoph Steffl and Hannes Folterbauer, Wolf Records owner and deserved winner of the Keeping the Blues Alive Awards by the Blues Foundation that every year recognize people or organizations which have devoted a lifetime working to keep the blues alive. Most of the songs present Homesick James playing guitar and singing solo, while in some others he is backed by his inseparable blues partner, great singer and harmonica player Snooky Pryor. Finally, in some other ones you will also find Hans Dujmic on guitar and Fritz Ozmec on drums. This is an historical recording that deserves a prominent place in any genuine blues lover collection. ESSENTIAL.
