Description

Hailing from Maryland, Blue Steele displays admirable songwriting skills and a gift for interpretation. The covers include Paul Butterfield's "Born In Chicago", Nat King Cole's "Route 66", Lyle Lovett's "She's No Lady", NRBQ's "It Comes To Me Naturally" and finally Canned Heat's "Goin' Up the Country" (an interesting way to finish the CD since Ernie Steele, for whom the band is named, so resembles Bob "The Bear" Hite). With a harp out front and guitar (fine work for sure), bass and drums providing rock-solid rhythm, the boys seem to be lost in the moment and oblivious to being recorded. From cut to cut, with every style and tempo, this CD never lets up or lets the listener down.
