NL Persbericht: Lightnin’ Guy wint web-voting van European Blues Union Belgium en vertegenwoordigt België tijdens de European Blues Challenge in Berlijn op 16 & 17 maart 2012
Met veel trots willen wij u meedelen dat Lightnin’ Guy (Gent, °1976) de web-voting van European Blues Union Belgium won. Hij zal dan ook samen met zijn Mighty Gators België vertegenwoordigen tijdens de European Blues Challenge in Berlijn op 16 & 17 maart 2012.
In totaal brachten 4.674 mensen hun stem uit tussen 20 september en 15 oktober. Lightnin’ Guy behaalde maar liefst 41,1 % van de stemmen. 1.921 blues fans kozen voor hem. En liet daarmee de andere deelnemende bands op ruime achterstand.
Lightnin’ Guy deelt mee zeer verheugd te zijn met deze overwinning en ziet het als een bekroning van 3 jaar hard werken in de Belgische blues & roots scene. Hij wil dan ook iedereen bedanken die gestemd heeft en zijn kandidatuur heeft ondersteund. Lightnin’ Guy & the Mighty Gators waren ook onder de andere deelnemende bands de enige kandidaat met zowel Vlaamse als Waalse muzikanten. Dit kleurt de overwinning extra Belgisch.
De 2de European Blues Challenge is een organisatie van de European Blues Union en heeft plaats in Kulturbrauerei in Berlijn op 16 & 17 maart 2012. Daar zullen 16 bands uit 16 verschillende Europese landen het opnemen tegen elkaar. De winnaar krijgt een plaats op 5 prestigieuze Bluesfestivals in Europa.

C’est avec une fierté certaine que nous vous informons de la victoire de Lightnin’ Guy à l’occasion de l’élection électronique organisée par European Blues Union Belgium. Lightnin’ Guy et ses Mighty Gators représenteront donc la Belgique au prochain European Blues Challenge qui aura lieu à Berlin les 16 et 17 mars 2012.
Ce sont au total 4.674 personnes qui ont exprimé leur voix entre le 20 septembre et le 15 octobre à minuit. Lightnin’ Guy en a récolté quelque 41,1 %, ce qui signifie que 1.921 fans de blues lui ont témoigné leur préférence. Ceci a permis à Lightnin’ Guy de creuser très clairement l’écart par rapport aux autres participants à la sélection
Lightnin’ Guy nous confirme sa très grande joie à l’égard de cette victoire qu’il considère comme le couronnement de trois années de travail acharné sur la scène « blues & roots » belge. Il souhaite vivement remercier toutes celles et tous ceux qui ont voté pour lui et, par là-même, lui ont exprimé leur soutien. A souligner également que Lightnin’ Guy & The Mighty Gators étaient les seuls parmi les groupes proposés dans la sélection à réunir des musiciens de flamands et wallons. Ceci donne une note encore plus « belge » à cette victoire !
Le 2ème « European Blues Challenge » est une organisation de la « European Blues Union » ; il se tiendra à la Kulturbrauerei à Berlin, les 16 et 17 mars 2012. 16 bands en provenance de 16 pays européens s’y rencontreront. Le vainqueur se verra proposer une participation à cinq festivals de blues prestigieux organisés en Europe.

It is with great pride that we can inform you that Lightnin' Guy won the web-voting organized by the European Blues Union Belgium. Lightnin' Guy and the Mighty Gators therefore will represent Belgium at the next European Blues Challenge to be held in Berlin on 16 and 17 March 2012.
A total of 4.674 people voted between September 20 and October 15. Lightnin' Guy received 41,1 % of the total votes. Which means that 1.921 blues fans showed their preference for him.
Lightnin' Guy is very happy with this victory. He considers it as the result of three years of hard work within the Blues & Roots scene in Belgium. He would love to thank everyone and anyone who voted for him and thereby expressed their support. We also want to stress that Lightnin' Guy & the Mighty Gators were the only ones among the competing bands with Flemish and Walloon musicians. This gives an even bigger Belgian touch to the win!
The second "European Blues Challenge" is an organization of the "European Union Blues" and will be held at the Kulturbrauerei in Berlin on 16 and 17 March 2012. 16 bands from 16 European countries will meet. The winner will be offered a spot during five prestigious blues festivals held in Europe.
